Vitamin D3 is becoming one of the best defenses against germs as well as being a contributor to healthy bones, muscles, and organs. It has been determined that your body’s D3 blood level is best when above a level of 20 ng/ml (nanograms per milliliter).
Building bones and slowing the aging of such is one of many benefits of D3. It also supports the function of muscle strength and injury prevention. Studies show that adequate levels of B3 helps maintain muscle strength thus reducing falls in people with low levels especially elderly people. Organ health is another, D3 is found everywhere in the body even in the brain.
Vitamin D3 is one of many nutrients that build a defense for the body against viruses and other invaders. There are studies ongoing right now that are studying its’ defense with coronavirus (covid-19). Standard blood tests don’t include a reading for D3 but I believe they may add it in the future.
It’s a good idea to take vitamin D3 and get a little sun (i.e. … without the sunburn). 1,000 to 2,000 units a day may be adequate but long term use of more than 4,000 units may be counterproductive on bones strength. And don’t forget you calcium for healthy bones also.
